Before he was making the world safe for democracy, Woodrow Wilson was president of Princeton.  The quote is taken from his essay, "What is Progress?" which is found in American Progressivism:  A Reader (edited by Ronald Prestino and William Atto, Lexington Books, 2008), 48.

You have to drink very deeply from the well of William James and John Dewey to affirm something this antithetical to Wilson's professed Presbyterian theology and the covenant which is so central to it.
